NYFW Fall 2016 - Michael DePaulo

March 3, 2016

It is time to talk about fashion. Recently I was in New York to cover several important fashion shows during the New York Fashion Week Fall 2016. Despite the subzero temperatures in the city designers, models and attendees survived and the week was a big success.
One of the shows I attended was Michael De Paulo. Originally from Massachusetts De Paulo is now based in New York City. He earned a Masters in Architecture from Northwestern University.  He likes to work with rich fabrics such as satin, chiffon, crepe and silk. His designs often feature feathers, geometric beading, and embroidery.
DePaulo’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection was inspired by the idea of a modern-day Marie Antoinette.  The color palette for evening wear was composed of reds, ivory, earth tone shades, and variations of gray. One piece was a stunning embroidered jumpsuit. Another particularly exciting piece was a sophisticated ballerina style short dress. Everything in the show illustrated his brilliant use of details including beading, pleats, custom prints and geometric draping. To complement the effect and beauty of the collection each model’s hair was worn in a top-knot fashioned by Christo owner of Christo Fifth Avenue salon.
