Betsey Johnson's Spring 16 collection took us on a tour of the
60s, 70s and 80s proper, paired with the music of the time and crimped hair.
Dedicated to her childhood dance teacher, Ann K. Pimm, a series of six
chapters, broken up by a hilarious nursery rhyme narration, Betsey danced her
models through Limelight to Kansas City.
This show is always a big, fun fashion party. This season was no
different. During the show models dancing on the runway wearing over-the-top styles.
The collection pieces were bold and colorful. The models sported
a crazy rainbow eye makeup and big retro hair.
The show ended with the signature Betsey
cartwheel-into-the-splits and a big runway dance party with giant balloons. It
was absolutely amazing to watch and be a part the audience.
On day one of NYFW I covered the Custo Barcelona, Betsey Johson, Giulietta and Iuri Shuladze shows. This season NYFW moved from Lincoln Center to a new venue at the former US Post Office at 34th Street. Everything was different. I confess I still miss the former Lincoln Center spaces.
For the first day I wore this custom made full skirt and crop top. The floral fabric which was made in Brasil is called "xita". I really love the bright colors of the pattern.
The start of New York Fashion Week is only 2 days away. Metropolitan Fashionista will be in the city to cover many of the events. Check out my blog and media pages to receive the latest news from the world of fashion - NYFW2016!

I can't not describe how stunning it is this Vogue US September issue.
The Reign of Beyoncé
There’s only one September issue, and there’s only one Beyoncé.
Last month I was invited to a preview of the Spring/Summer 2015 swimwear collection of the Brazilian designer Sinesia Karol. The debut of her collection was held at Neiman Marcus at Natick Mall. The pieces are original and stunning. Brazil is a country which has many contrasts of nature and Karol found inspiration from her native country in the four elements of earth, water, air and fire.
Sinesia Karol Spring/Summer 2015 Collection can be found at Neiman Marcus store.

Arte Que Salva is a
project which helps children who live in disadvantage and poverty. It was
founded by Brazilian missionary Eve Picardi who has organized mission trips to
Brazil and several other countries. She made a visit to Haiti shortly after the
2010 earthquake that did extensive damage to the country. Ms. Picardi saw the
misery of the people whose homes and dreams were suddenly destroyed. Her vision
was to help the displaced children recover from their trauma by providing them
with art supplies. Many of the children had never seen art brushes and paints.
The endeavor in Haiti
was a success and thus began the Arte Que Salva project. Organized by Eve
Picardi and Miami artist Carmem Gusmao, the project is now in its 3rd year and
for the first time will have an auction which features art that was made by
underprivileged children who live in Sanford, Florida and Rio de Janeiro’s
infamous landfield (Lixao de Gramacho). The children drew pictures of their
dreams which were then sent to professional artists. Those artists completed
the children’s work to create paintings that will be offered in the auction.
Among the 48 Brazilian artists who volunteered their time is Margarette Mattos
of Cambridge-MA. All the profits from the auction will go directly to support
the Central Florida Dream Education Center and the Life Change Project in Rio
de Janeiro. These programs provide educational and mentoring services for
children.
The auction Arte Que
Salva – USA 2015 will take place in Miami, Florida on March 26.
