If you appreciate art, you cannot miss the artist Jeffrey Terreson’s exhibition at Newbury Fine Arts gallery in Boston.
After great success as an illustrator, Terreson decided to express himself through painting which was his true passion. Drawing from the legacy of abstract expressionism his imagery is stunning. Embracing the aesthetic process of painting through the use of vibrant pigment and encaustic wax, Terreson achieves an uninhibited gestural style illuminating himself as a “sculptor in paint”.
Terreson received the National Award of Excellence from The American Juried Art Salon. After his hugely successful show in 2012, Newbury Fine Arts is thrilled to present his one man show “Emergence”, exhibiting from February 11th – March 4th, 2014.

The Tadashi Sohji Fall/2014 fashion show was presented at Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 6. The designer said that his inspiration for this collections was the architecture of a Moorish Palace with it expansive halls embedded with tales of enchantment. Ornate architectural details, luxuriant textiles, and palatial soundscapes were intimately linked to the mystery and romance of yesteryear. An elegant balance between antiquity and modernity, the collection was designated for the au courant woman.
The color palette used was ranged from pale and misty to
rich and earthy with exquisite textures of laser-cut micro suede, velvet-cut paillettes, and shimmering diamantés were
paired with effortless silhouettes. Dimensional crewel embroidery and corded
embroidery on tulle were influenced by motifs found in Moorish architecture. Bright,
saturated colors lend themselves to the colored glazes of intricate tilework.
The airy, romantic and mystery appeal gave his collection
its allure.
Brazilian designer Ivan Aguilar debut at Fashion Week in New York
Ivan Aguilar, a Brazilian designer debuted last weekend in the famous Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Autumn / Winter 2014 . Ivan started his career 15 years ago as a menswear designer. He was well known nationally as the “designer of the president”. Ivan designed suits for two former Brazilian presidents, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Luis Inacio Lula da Silva.
In Brazil, Ivan participated in Rio Fashion Week and Casa dos Criadores. He won many awards including Best Designer from L' Officel magazine. Ivan learned the craft from his stylist mother Manuela Aguilar. He had a dream to also design a line women’s clothing. This dream finally happened when Ivan presented his first women’s collection Autumn/Winter 2014 on one of the prestigious catwalks of the New York Fashion Week. The show which was part of the official fashion week calendar of Mercedes -Benz Fashion Week took place last Saturday, February 8 at the Hudson Hotel. Several representatives of the international media were present. I attended the event and the collection was stunning. It was very feminine and sophisticated. The collection was inspired by the Brazilian Baroque period and the modern city of Barcelona.
The show featured 27 outfits that included cinched waist dresses, flared skirts, collars, bows and puffy sleeves. The predominant colors were black, gold, and off-white, with touches of glitter. The fabrics used were mostly wool, linen, tweed, silk and rayon. In each piece the designer used his tailoring expertise which gave all the clothes a sophisticated touch and an impeccable finish.
All the clothes presented will be primarily sold in the USA department stores. The accessories for the outfits included jewelry from the Brazilian designer Malu Guimarães and shoes from the Brazilian brand My Shoes.
After the show Ivan Aguilar spoke with some international media representatives who were eager to know more about the Brazilian designer. Also attending the show were some of his friends from Boston including the Brazilian painter Margarette Mattos and her husband Jose Moraes. I am confident that this is just the beginning of Ivan Aguilar’s fashion design career in the United States. His talent and innovative styles will certainly be recognized.
