Neste New York Fashion Week Fall 2011, que aconteceu em Fevereiro de 2011 muitos novos estilistas apresentaram seus trabalhos, incluindo a jovem designer de bolsas Laura Vela. Foi a estréia da estilista na Mostra Acessórios da New York Fashion Week. Eu tive oportunidade de conhecê-la pessoalmente. Laura me informou que sua coleção 2011 de bolsas já começou a ser distribuída nos EUA. E serão vendidas no final da Primavera 2011 no site shopbop.com.

Laura nasceu e foi criada na Espanha, onde graduou-se na prestigiada escola de negócios ESADE. Mais tarde ela se mudou para Nova Iorque, onde recebeu um certificado do Fashion Institute of Technology. Neste momento Laura está estudando na também prestigiada Parsons School for Design.

Durante uma viagem à Argentina Laura decidiu criar uma bolsa e ela queria que fosse perfeita. Ela pesquisou tipos de couro e outros diversos materiais. Laura visitou algumas cortumes bem renomados em Buenos Aires, procurando os materiais perfeitos para fazer sua criação. Depois de criar a bolsa e começar a usá-la, Laura recebeu muitos elogios e começou a ser perguntada sobre onde podia-se comprar uma igual. O resultado disso foi a sua primeira linha de bolsas, que foi adquirida por seus amigos e colegas. Durante o verão passado, quando Laura foi estagiária de estilismo, as suas bolsas chamaram a atenção de Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, e Mary-Kate e Ashley Olsen.
Em janeiro passado, Laura fez sua primeira venda de varejo e foi informada de que tinha sido aceita para participar da Exposição de Acessórios da New York Fashion Week Fall 2011.

This February, during New York Fashion Week Fall 2011 many new designers presented their work at the event, including the young handbag designer Laura Vela. It was the designer's debut at the Accessory Exhibit. I had the opportunity to meet her in person. Laura informed me her 2011 handbag collection started to be distributed in US. It will be sold later this spring at shopbop.com.

Laura was born and raised in Spain where she graduated from the prestigious ESADE business school. Later she headed to New York where she received a certificate from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Now Laura is studying at the prestigious Parsons School for Design.
During a trip Argentina Laura decided to design a handbag that she wanted to be perfect. She researched leather and other types of materials. She visited some well-known tanneries in Buenos Aires looking for the perfect materials. Once she completed that bag and started using it, she received many compliments and started to being asked about where it could be bought. The result was her first handbag line, which was widely purchased by her friends and classmates. During the last summer when Laura was an intern stylist, her handbags caught the eye of Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. This past January, Laura made her first retail sale and was notified that she had been accepted to participate in the New York Fashion Week Accessory Exhibit.
